Men Explain Things to Me

The title essay is a biting, and now classic, look at the way some men choose to speak down to women. (And while she’s not a fan, it, and reactions to it, likely inspired the verb “mansplain”). Other topics include marriage equity, violence against women, and Virginia Woolf. Her writing is biting, thought-provoking, occasionally beautiful and often blunt. Her observations left me sometimes very weary of how far I think we still need to go for gender equity but it’s a good solid and needed read.
