Kristin Hannah draws you into the lives of these sisters and gives you some insight into why they take separate paths. The sisters have very different personalities and make very different choices to exist during this tumultuous time, which kept me reading to see what happened next. The book easily moves from present day to the retelling of the past and guides the reader through the circumstances each sister deals with.
