Lift Your Spirit

I’ve been an Aloe Blacc fan for years so when “Wake me up” hit the air waves I was confused. I knew that was Blacc’s voice over what one reviewer called “country-flecked guitar strums that sound like Mumford & Sons on speed.” Luckily Blacc started making appearances supporting the acoustic version and all was right in my world. Blacc’s latest is a fabulous release with some of my new favorites. “Can You Do This?” is a great piece to dance to. “The Man” is samples a line from Elton John and makes something new and wonderful. The driving beat of “Ticking Bomb” offers the social commentary that caught my attention in his breakthrough release Good Things.
