Bo at Ballard Creek

Bo is a happy preschooler who lives in the tiny mining village of Ballard Creek, Alaska, where the multi-ethnic townsfolk work hard, enjoy life, and generally look after one another - despite such hardships as subzero temperatures, aggressive wildlife, and the occasional bout of sickness. Though Bo was abandoned as a baby, she feels no lack of a loving family, not with her adoptive fathers - African-American Jack and Swedish-American Arvid - and the rest of the colorful inhabitants of Ballard Creek there to help her along.  LeUyen Pham's charming illustrations help bring the characters to vivid life.

 

This would be an excellent book for fans of Little House on the Prairie or the American Girl series.
