Yet it works. I jumped right into the middle of Laurenston’s Pride series and had no trouble settling in with her fun and quirky characters. The main couple here are a pair of hybrid shapeshifters—an often scatter-brained wolf/dog plumber and a compulsive and dangerous polar bear/lion hockey player. In this one book there’s paranormal elements, suspense, laugh out loud (with tears) crazy humor, scorching sex, and enough interesting side characters to keep the series going. The series starts with The Mane Event and this one is followed by Bite Me.
