The Other Wes Moore

Author Wes Moore, set out to learn the other Wes Moore’s story when his mother mentioned that two Wes Moores were being featured in The Baltimore Sun in December 2000.

Two African American men grow up in the Baltimore, Maryland area under similar circumstances. The author Wes Moore became a Rhodes Scholar, a respected combat veteran in Afghanistan and served with Condoleeza Rice as a White House Fellow. He also spoke at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The other Wes Moore was a crack dealer and a short term carpenter who built a play house for his daughter. He is now serving a life sentence for his role in a 2000 robbery that left a police officer dead. Unable to shake how the two men could have ended up on such opposite paths, author Wes Moore decides to investigate what happened.
