Jessica Goodrich Receives Director's Award

WM_2021_Jessica with LoT Items.jpgI’m so pleased to announce that the Director’s Award for July was given to Jessica Goodrich, Library of Things and Business Specialist. Jessica has been and continues to be phenomenal in her work with building up and then growing our Library of Things collection. Most recently, she’s focused on addressing the need for internet access and devices in our area. Last year, she applied for and was awarded a grant through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). In her application, she asked for funding for iPad and Chromebook kits that circulate with hotspots. Now, filling out an LSTA grant application is no small task. I think they make it so difficult so that only the most driven will apply. Well, that application didn’t stop Jessica. She saw a need and then went through the difficult task of getting funding and then orchestrating the addition of these items to our collection.

Our Library of Things collection is one of our most popular additions in recent years. Its popularity and usefulness for our communities is due to the work that Jessica has done to build it up to what it is today. I am so appreciative of her work and dedication to our communities. Along with her intelligence, skill and expertise, she’s one of the nicest people you’ll meet. I’m so thankful that she works for our library system.
