Haslett Public School District is next to take part in Student Success Initiative

Shared Goals Creating New Opportunities

We’re excited to announce that Haslett is the next Capital Area District Libraries branch to launch the Student Success Initiative. The Initiative provides students with access to library services and resources that will help them cultivate literacy growth and development.

Library accounts will be created for all Haslett students K-12 in the fall unless requested otherwise. It doesn’t matter where the student resides—anyone enrolled in the Haslett Public School District can get a card. Instead of keeping track of physical cards, students can access library materials simply by using an access code given by the school or showing their school ID.

The student accounts will allow them to check out up to three books or audiobooks, as well as grant them unlimited access to CADL’s digital collections, online resources and library computers. Any existing CADL accounts will not be affected by the new student account, and vice versa.

“Since the CADL Haslett relocation to a Haslett Public Schools building in 2011, our shared goal in providing services that cultivate student success at all grade levels has become stronger than ever.” said Ann Chapman, the head librarian at CADL Haslett.

She continued, “Making sure every student, regardless of residence, can get a library card has been on the radar of CADL and Haslett Public Schools for some time. We’re delighted that our strong partnership has made this a reality with the Student Success Card Initiative.”

"The library access through the Student Success Initiative will be one of the tools students can use in continuing the academic excellence that Haslett Public Schools is known for."

Executive director of CADL Scott Duimstra said “We’re very happy to partner with Haslett Public Schools on making this a reality. The library access through the Student Success Initiative will be one of the tools students can use in continuing the academic excellence that Haslett Public Schools is known for.”

The expansion of the program will impact approximately 2,700 students throughout the district. We look forward to expanding the Student Success Initiative to more schools within the year. If you have any questions you can contact Ann Chapman at (517) 339-2324 or chapmana@cadl.org.
