Partition divided more than just two countries, it divided the people too

Half-Muslim, half-Hindu Nisha has always felt safe in her home and family, but that changes when she learns she now lives in Pakistan and that Hindus, like her father and grandmother, are no longer welcome in the newly formed country. As the family flees on foot to the border, Nisha writes dutifully in her diary to her long-dead mother about the travels, the difficulties, and her fears for her family.
