Set 64 years before the name Primrose Everdeen is called for the reaping and before a girl named Katniss is ever sent into the arena, this book follows the events of the 10th annual Hunger Games. The story's perspective is told from the viewpoint of a 16 year old named Coriolanus, a Capitol boy who is going to mentor one of the tributes selected to enter the Hunger Games arena. Of course, there is one glaring fact about this boy which will automatically set any reader on edge, and that is the fact that Coriolanus Snow will one day grow up to be the president of Panem and Katniss Everdeen's greatest enemy. For fans of the Hunger Games series this is a fascinating prequel which is surprisingly not focused on the origin story of an early hero, but rather on the events which shape the villain.
