A tournament of high magic and death

Every twenty years in Ilvernath, when the Blood Veil falls, seven champions from seven great houses fight to the death to determine whose family will control the high magic for the next two decades. However, this year is different--a tell-all book has been published revealing the secrets of the tournament and Ilvernath is now the center of controversy over their bloodthirsty tradition. The seven champions are supposedly ready to face their deaths for the chance at the high magic, but at least one of them has a different goal in mind--shattering the tradition entirely.
