How can you be heard when everyone wants to silence you?

This novel in verse is a must for fans of Tiffany Jackson and Elizabeth Acevedo. Narrated by the author, Tami does an amazing job capturing not only the different voices of the characters, but also their excitements, passions, worries, hopes, and fears. So much is added to the story by experiencing it as an audiobook. There is also a bonus of actual music inserted into different parts of the story. The book does deal with difficult topics, but it is an important read for anyone; especially those interested in "making it big" as an artist. As an observer you may question some of the main character's decisions, but you can't help but admire her ambition and root for her as you become riveted to her story that is, sadly, far from being strictly fiction.
