You'll wish your first job had been like this.

Work buddies Deja and Josiah love their jobs at the Pumpkin Patch, a cider mill-ish fall attraction where they’ve worked for several seasons.  But this year it’s bittersweet, since this will be their last autumn at “The Patch."  Both teens, it turns out, are headed to college the next fall. Josiah is especially conflicted, because it will be his last chance to act on the intense crush he’s harbored for the girl who works at the park’s fudge shop.  But with the help of Deja, who has very advanced social skills, Josiah just might work up the courage to make his move.

This is a tender-hearted story about love and longing featuring teenagers on the verge of adulthood.  Realistic, full-colored artwork by Faith Erin Hicks with plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor add depth to this charmingly old-fashioned tale.  In fact, except for the racially diverse cast and the fact that one of the protagonists is apparently bisexual, this story could have been written in the 1950s - if not the 1850s.

Take a break from superheroes and read about a pair of kind and authentic young people learning about love.
