The Poet X

Xiomara Batista feel stifled and ignored in nearly every aspect of her life, except when she writes in her journal. There, she can freely spill her thoughts, opinions, emotions with no one else the wiser. An invite to the new poetry club at her school, though, could be the push she needs to express her thoughts in a radical new way - out loud. I used to think I didn't like audiobooks, but it turns out, I just need to listen to more novels-in-verse that are read by the author. Ms. Acevedo does an amazing job conveying the depths and peaks of emotion Xiomara feels throughout the story. Poetry isn't an easy thing for me to read, but listening to this? It felt like listening to a song for the whole book. 10/10 would listen again.
