Lisette’s List

Lisette, heartbroken to leave the art world in Paris, travels with her new husband, Andre, to rural Provence to take care of his grandfather, Pascal.  Lisette learns that Pascal, once a pigment salesman, has collected paintings from his former clients and is eager to share his stories about the artists, the paintings and how to understand them. Despite the hardships of World War ll, Lisette manages to take care of herself, learn new skills, search for the paintings and break boundaries to become a strong, independent woman. I enjoyed all the detail Susan Vreeland used to ‘paint’ a detailed picture of the history, art, culture and the people Lisette meets in and around Roussillon.
