When an impromptu potato hockey game leads to Samhain "Sam" LaCroix discovering he is a necromancer, he finds himself as the unhappy apprentice to Seattle's most powerful (and only) necromancer, Douglas. Douglas does not appreciate the competition and plans on doing what he's done to all the previous necromancers in the area - draining their powers and hiding the bodies.

Throw in the kidnapped heir to the local werewolf pack, the talking head of one of Sam's best friends, two witches, and a harbinger of death with a taste for waffles, and you've got yourself a dark, snarky, entertaining read.
