The Shining Girls

I’d been meaning to read this since it came out, and I’m kind of happy I waited for the downloadable audio version. This is a great production featuring 6 narrators, including Khristine Hvam as Kirby, and Peter Ganim as Harper Curtis. Beukes tells a twisting tale about the collision course between a serial killer and the one woman who survived his attack. Harper has a mission to kill his “shining girls,” all strangely listed in a extraordinary house that opens for him into different eras in Chicago’s history. Against all odds Kirby survived his attack, and is now trying to track down her would be murderer—but the clues aren’t adding up to any sane conclusion. Fans of NOS4A2 by Joe Hill should give this a try.
