Past Lives

More tragic than any Missed Connections post you've ever seen on Craigslist

This is such a beautiful movie about missed connections, identity, and interconnectedness. Nora (played so perfectly by Greta Lee) and Hae Sung have a deep relationship as children growing up in Seoul. When Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea, the two are separated. Years later, when they’ve both settled into their (separate) lives, the two finally reconnect and reflect on life and the choices that led them to where they are. This is a heartbreaking yet ultimately hopeful film. When I saw it in theaters, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
