Mindfulness and Meditation for Kids

As the stress of modern-day living has become increasingly more daunting, many adults are turning to mindfulness and meditation as a means of coping.  The author indicated that she wrote this book specifically to introduce children to effective self-care practices that will help them better handle the anxiety inherent in daily living. In addition to highlighting basic meditation techniques, it will, hopefully, encourage young readers to build a repertoire of simple mindfulness activities that can be used to alleviate stress and help to improve self-image.
Tweens, upper elementary school students, are the target audience for Mindful Me.  However, I believe that the mindfulness practices presented would also be useful for older youth as well. As a practitioner of mindfulness, I found this book to be a compelling read and believe it is a wonderful tool that parents can share with their children to help them remain calm while growing up in a world filled with chaos and uncertainty.
