This One Summer

Everything is kind of awkward at that age, even summer vacation.

This one summer, two girls spend their days swimming, watching horror movies, and learning more about life than one probably wants to while on vacation. As it goes when you're in middle school, things happen to them and around them, and the girls are left to just make sense of it all. Parents argue, teenagers put their drama on full display-- their lives may be pretty simple right now, but life in general? It's complicated. Over the course of this short graphic novel, Rose and Windy gain a better understanding of themselves and of the world around them.
I would recommend this to readers who enjoyed Sheets by Brenna Thummler, and Looking for Alaska by John Green (or the miniseries on Hulu).
