Modern fairy tale, but with lasers

On its surface, Kin is an science-fiction action/adventure film, with laser rifles, crime lords, and pickup trucks. But take a closer look: Beneath the veneer of mid-90's Detroit and soundtrack by post-rock band Mogwai, lies a modern fairy tale: An adopted prince, a noble king, his disgraced son, a bandit king. The laser rifle is a magic sword, and the journey of the two brothers is something like a sacred quest.
