Azumanga Daioh: The Animation

I'm a relative newbie to manga and anime, having been fully immersed in their wonderfulness by my 18 year-old son during the long pandemic stay-at-home. 

 

Azumanga Daioh is one of my favorites. It is a surreal and completely bonkers comedy focusing on a group of high school-age girls (each with their-own unique personalities) and their oddball teachers. There are also several cute cats (and a dog) in the series that interact with the girls, often with comic results (no spoilers!). 

 

Your "mileage may vary" on the humor in the series. Not only is it often outlandish, but some of it is a bit problematic by contemporary standards. I found the show oddly entertaining and memorable, and I hope you will too.
