A Vivid Story of Living with Chronic Illness

This semi-autobiographical graphic novel follows an Arab-American college student dealing with epilepsy. His family and his doctors don’t believe him, and as a result he struggles to open up to others. Ata perfectly captures the frustration of being a disabled student with school administration and staff refusing to accommodate. Their illustrations are colored in a striking limited palette. I would recommend this graphic novel for fans of Kabi Nagata and Mariko Tamaki.
