Falling in love with a house is as unpredictable and messy as falling in love with a human.

This is a delightful memoir about a family looking to start over and buying a wreck of a house in an eccentric small town. Interesting thoughts about space, architecture and design in a really accessible style. But it's not really an architecture book. It's a book about balancing family and individuality, and how sometimes following your dreams isn't practical, but it's always a learning experience. It's ultimately uplifting and came at a time when that was just what I needed.
