I love how a classic plot can be used and reused over and over and still result in a book that feels fresh while paying homage to its inspiration. Trisha Raje is a high performing neurosurgeon from a very ambitious family. DJ (yes, the D is for Darcy) is a model-handsome Cordon Bleu trained chef. He's trying to make a living in the US after leaving his career in Paris behind to be with his dying artist sister, Emma. Trisha is the doctor who can save Emma, but the operation that saves her will result in Emma's blindness. First impressions between Trisha and DJ do not go well. You might guess the ending, but the ride getting there is oh so fun! And the food descriptions- the rapture of eating something that is all-consuming delicious is evoked so well. For anyone who loves Austen, needs a comfort read, or enjoys #OwnVoices romance.
