This modern Western is a brutal but fascinating look at power, family dysfunction, and the political landscape of land ownership in cattle country. There's plenty of intrigue, along with surprisingly nuanced family dynamics with Kevin Costner as the guiding force of a cattle ranch dynasty. He rules with unapologetic force, and his kids are unsurprisingly riddled with issues. Add to this a political mess with both land developers and government officials all vying for their piece of the pie, you have the recipe for a show that is both huge and nuanced in story and landscape
