Moment of honesty: Sleater-Kinney is my favorite band. They went on a hiatus after The Woods... that was near heartbreak for me. The Center Won't Hold is the newest release that also brought the departure of Janet Weiss, the drummer for the vast majority of Sleater-Kinney's life as a band. St. Vincent as producer on this album, and though this has been met with criticism, has won me over on this album. The lyrics on Center are still very Brownstein and Tucker, and I think this album is just a different side of the coin that brought about the popularity of Sleater-Kinney over 20 years ago. If you want a harder rock sound, this isn't the Sleater-Kinney you are familiar with but it is still has the feel that only Sleater-Kinney can give your ears.
