Who would have guessed that becoming a debutante would end in kidnapping, blackmail and arrest?

Sawyer Taft is given an offer from her wealthy grandmother - participate in debutante season, in return for six figures and, more importantly, a chance to discover who her father is. How can she refuse that? Never did she expect to find actual family and friendship, and she certainly didn’t think she would wind up aiding a pair of kidnappers, solving a blackmail plot, or uncovering a decades-long coverup. Oops? Jennifer Lynn Barnes has written so many books in the YA genre, but I think her mystery/thriller titles are her best. She has a knack for creating characters that are fun to root for, even when they are making kind-of-sort-of-really dumb decisions. The setting in this book, especially, is amazing and you can just feel the oppressive atmosphere holding everyone in their assigned spots.
