The Only Girl in the World

If you loved "The Glass Castle," you will enjoy this disturbing read.

This book is a disturbing look at Maude's childhood/teenage years until she can "escape" her controlling abusive father.  Her father controls her mother as well who goes along with whatever he wants to avoid his wrath.  They withdraw from normal society more and more until they are almost completely isolated in their own estate.  The father spiraling into more and more paranoid thoughts and crazy actions he makes Maude partake in throughout the book.  Reminiscent of The Glass Castle, if you were a fan you will like this read as well.
