Blood Father

The smarter, funnier, better version of the film Taken

There's a reason this movie got rock solid reviews from both critics and audiences alike: it's good. Mel Gibson is John Link, a father abruptly reunited with his estranged daughter. He's an ex-con who's walking the straight and narrow. His daughter is a runaway druggie mob-involved train wreck, whose life most closely resembles a dumpster fire. Their relationship is tragic, hilarious, and touching. Gibson's banter with William H. Macy, who plays his AA sponsor, is gold on its own. The dialogue, pacing, and action sequences sparkle with humor and realistic grit. Definitely recommended for fans of gritty, smart, anti-hero films.
