Picture Rosalind Russell and Cary Grant in spacesuits and jetpacks!

This suspenseful, funny, and generally big-hearted book is like His Girl Friday remixed for the 21st century and set, not in a newsroom, but in an ultra-high tech science lab.  There's the same love-hate romantic attraction between the two leads (here, teenagers Maisie Brown and Jonathan Wilder: there, journalists Hildy Johnson and Walter Burns), the web of lies and deceit the female lead must untangle as she struggles between her heart and her mind, and colorful secondary characters who help push the plot relentlessly forward.  And then, of course, is the dialogue: so quick and smart and dead-on that you want to go back and experience it again.

Of course, it's not all fun-and-games in the world of Dangerous. Maisie has more at stake than Hildy, whose primary dilemma is making a choice between home and career (Maisie almost dies more than once), and Wilder has very serious daddy issues that never plague the roguishly charming Walter.  Oh, and then there's that whole thing where Maisie has to save the world . . .
