Take & Make Kits

Many CADL branches offer a selection of free kits that include instructions and supplies to do a project or enjoy a storytime at home. Covering a variety of ages and interests, they are available for pickup while supplies last. Click on any branch name to see a list of what’s available this season.  Be sure to note dates and age ranges.

STEM Lab to Go (Age 5 & up)

Explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics at home by picking up a kit with fun hands-on activities. A new kit with instructions and supplies will be released each month, then available any time (while supplies last). Craft Kits to Go (Age 3 & up)

Storytime to Go (Ages 2–6)

Request a themed storytime kit that includes songs, activities, a simple craft and a list of titles appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers. A new theme will be released each week, then available anytime while supplies last. Pick one up when you come in, call to reserve one, or include it in your order at MyTime.

Take & Play Board Game Kits (Ages 5 & up)

Play the world's most popular board games when you pick up a kit with rules, history, a DIY gameboard, and game pieces. A different classic game will be released each month, then available any time (while supplies last). Pick one up when you come in, call to reserve one, or include it in your order at MyTime.

Creative Writing Kits (Age 5 & up)

Use your imagination to complete these fun writing projects that include instructions and supplies. A new kit will be released each month, then available any time (while supplies last). Pick one up when you come in, call to reserve one, or include it in your order at MyTime.

CADL Crates (Grades 8-12) 

Reserve a crate containing two Young Adult library books based on a monthly theme, plus a fun craft, activity suggestions, snacks and surprises! You must have access to a CADL card or Student Success Initiative card, as the books will be checked out to you. Limited to one crate per month (while supplies last). Request one by calling the library and we will help you arrange pickup at the CADL branch of your choice. If you will pick up your crate at CADL Haslett, you can also request one at MyTime.

CADL Crates Junior (Grades 5-8) 

Reserve a crate containing two middle grade books based on a monthly theme, plus a fun craft, activity suggestions, plus snacks and surprises. De-stress Packets (Age 16 & up)  

Get tips for managing your stress this fall. A new packet will be available beginning the first Monday of each month (while supplies last). Pick one up when you come in, or request one by calling the library or adding it to your holds in MyTime.

Break-In Bags (Ages 10–18)

Solve a series of puzzles to find the code that will open your bag of treats. Think of this as a take-home escape room with candy at the end! Available while supplies last. Pick one up when you come in, or request one by calling the library or adding it to your holds in MyTime.

Spice of the Month  

Spice up your life with some seasonings that may be new to you! Participants will receive a small amount of a different spice each month, plus recipes and reading suggestions. Request an engaging DIY craft kit to help savor the season while creating your own personalized fall bucket list (all supplies provided). Spooky Pizza Craft (All ages)
