Take & Make Kits

Many CADL branches offer a selection of free kits that include instructions and supplies to do a project or enjoy a storytime at home. Covering a variety of ages and interests, they are available for pickup while supplies last. Click on any branch name to see a list of what’s available this season.  Be sure to note dates and age ranges.

Movie to Go Kits (All ages) 

CADL members can stop by during our open hours to pick up a Summer Reading-themed movie kit to enjoy at home. Each kit contains the movie selection of the week (your choice of DVD or Blu-ray) that we will check out to you, plus commercially pre-packaged snacks and movie-related activities—everything you need to enjoy a special movie viewing! New kits are available every Thursday on a first-come basis (while supplies last).

Project Squirrel (All ages) 

Project Squirrel is calling citizen scientists to count the number of squirrels in their communities and report their findings. Pick up a form during our open hours and use it to gather this information. Return your completed form by Aug. 7 to be entered into a prize drawing.

Meridian Wildlife Challenge Notebook (All ages)                                                         

Animals have come to Meridian and are leaving clues around our community! Pick up a Field Notebook you can use to record the weekly clues you can find outside at CADL Haslett, CADL Okemos, the Harris Nature Center, and Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center. This activity is just for fun, the notebooks are yours to keep (while supplies last). Request one by calling the branch, or add one to your order at MyTime.

De-stress Packets (Age 16 & up)  

Get tips for managing your stress this summer. A new packet will be available to take when you pick up your library items, beginning the first Monday of each month, then while supplies last.

CADL Crates (Grades 8-12) 

Reserve a crate containing two Young Adult library books based on a monthly theme, a fun craft, activity suggestions, plus snacks and surprises! You must have access to a CADL card or Student Success Initiative card, as the books will be checked out to you. Limited to one crate per month (while supplies last). Request one by calling 517-339-2324 and we will help you arrange pickup at the CADL branch of your choice. Request a “Return to Learn Resource Pack” to help your child be successful in the upcoming school year. Project Squirrel (All ages) 

Count the number of squirrels in your community to understand tree squirrel ecology and help science. Pick up worksheets at the Stockbridge branch to record your observations, or print them out here. Bring forms to the library by Aug. 8 to be entered into a drawing for squirrel-themed prizes!
