A Small Act

"The tiniest actions can change entire lives" - NY Times

For those of us who have altruistic inclinations, but modest financial means, this is an uplifting and inspirational film.  It shows that you don’t have to be rich to make a difference.

For years, Hilde Back, a Holocaust survivor and immigrant to Sweden made small quarterly contributions to support the education of a rural Kenyan child.  Through her generosity Chris Mburu was able to pay for his secondary education.  After graduating, he attended college, eventually studied law at Harvard and became a human rights lawyer for the United Nations.

A Small Act is the story of Mburu’s journey to find the woman who transformed his life and thank her.  It also highlights his ongoing efforts to “pay forward” her generosity by working to fund the education of other youth from his village.
