Visually spectacular surreal fantasy-drama film.

This visually spectacular tale from the director of The Cell is set in 1920’s California in a hospital outside of LA where an injured stuntman tells a fantastic story to an injured girl who visits him. The story takes on mythic proportions between the deteriorating mental state of the stuntmen and the vivid imagination of the little girl. Surreal and stunning this was a moving story, appealing to both my love of fantasy and the interest in drama and how people react to tragedy. But what really caught me was visual style I associate with director Tarsem Singh. If you have seen The Cell (also Singh), or were moved by the visual style of movies such as Mirrormask(McKean) , Hellboy 2 (Guillermo del Toro), or Pan’s Labyrinth (also del Toro) check this out. Rated R.

Cast: Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies), Catinca Untaru
