Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) provides library services to our local communities seven days per week. All positions except those in the Administrative Offices will require some evening and weekend hours, including Sundays. While this position is currently assigned at the above location, CADL reserves the right to require all employees to be available for assignments at any CADL location.

Salary

$67-142-$83,958

Nature of Work

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Youth Services Specialist, develops and coordinates system-wide youth related programs, services, and outreach. The Youth Services Specialist manages strategic relationships for the organization which pertain to youth, early literacy, and K-12 schools, consistent with the library’s mission and the diverse needs of the community. This administrative position will lead CADL’s Summer Reading efforts, including implementing evaluative measures.

Education & Experience

·        Possession of a Master's Degree in Library Science or its equivalent from an ALA accredited institution. 

·        Possession of a Michigan Librarian’s Professional Certificate. 

·        A minimum of three years satisfactory experience in a library working with in early literacy, children’s and/or tween/teen library services.

.        Knowledge of best practices in the provisions of library service for youth, including guidelines and standards published by ALA, ALSC and other national leadership organizations.
