She's one of my all time favorite singer-songwriters. Never one for labels or to be put into a box, she's had to create her own path to success, determined to be her authentic self in an industry where success is sometimes hinders on an artist doing the opposite. Her work paid off when she seemingly came out of nowhere to win Song, Album, and Record of the year at the 61st Grammy Awards. Part memoir, part social commentary, and part love letter to those who have helped her along the way, Brandi Carlisle isn't scared of deep introspection or 'facing the music' for the mistakes that she has made along the way. I've been a fan of her music since college, now I'm a big BIG fan of her as a human.
