CADL Update Page


With public health protocols changing, we are excited to begin adding services this summer! Safety mandates from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will be followed. Wearing a mask is required unless a person falls into a specified exemption. Read more about CADL’s COVID Preparedness Response Plan here.

Mask Exemptions:

  • Fully vaccinated
  • Cannot medically tolerate a face mask
  • Kids under 2 years old

Here’s what we’re offering:


Indoor browsing and account services are being offered. Larger branches will offer walk-in service while smaller ones will require appointments. Browsing appointments will be limited to 30 minutes, with a limit of three people per appointment. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Capacity will be enforced at the door.  Listen to our Executive Director and Collection Development Director discuss in-person browsing. 

These amenities and services will NOT be available during your browsing appointment:

  • Reading magazines and newspapers in the library
  • Sitting on furniture
  • Toys/Children’s play area
  • Study space
  • Meeting rooms

This service will continue at all branches. Computer use will be limited to 45 minutes per day and your library card will be required to log in.


This service will continue at all CADL branches except Downtown Lansing and South Lansing, where pickups will take place during walk-in browsing sessions. 

To schedule an in-person browsing appointment, computer use session or contactless pickup, call your local branch or sign up online.


Some branches now offer selected events inside the library or outdoors on library grounds/local parks. We will follow health guidelines for these gatherings, and most require advance registration to limit crowd size. Find a current list of events and registration details here.


The Local History room at the Downtown Lansing Branch will be available by appointment from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesdays. Appointments are 45 minutes long. Click here for a full list of available local history services.


Use our MyTime service to schedule these library services:  

  • Contactless pickup of holds you placed in the online catalog. You will be notified when these are ready at the branch you selected. Contactless pickup is no longer available at our Downtown Lansing and South Lansing branches
  • Computer use 
  • Contactless pick up of various other items such as Grab & Go BagsTake & Make craft kitsseedsStorytime to Go kits, and food packs. These are based on availability and must be picked up at the branch you select below.
  • In-person browsing appointments for Aurelius, Dansville, Leslie, Mason, Stockbridge, Webberville, and Williamston.
