A fascinating chronicle of Buford's time in Lyon: witty, insightful, and appetite-inducing

The follow-up to Buford's earlier book "Heat", "Dirt" finds him, his wife, and their twin toddlers navigating life in Lyon, France, where Buford works as an unpaid kitchen laborer while attempting to find the roots of French cooking (which he thinks are in Italy).

Anyone who enjoys books about food and wine, or works by Anthony Bourdain ("Kitchen Confidential" & "Medium Raw"), Julia Child ("My Life in France"), or Jim Harrison ("The Raw and the Cooked" & "A Really Big Lunch") will enjoy this book. The audiobook version, read by the author, is also highly recommended.
