Laurie J. Marks' Elemental Logic series one of the most hopeful and warm I've ever read, although it doesn't shy away from painful subjects. The first book, Fire Logic, follows a diplomat and a blacksmith-turned-Chosen-One as they deal with the devastation of war. Also features an incredibly real depiction of queer found family. I would recommend this book to fans of Ann Leckie’s Imperial Radch series, and to anyone looking for optimism in dark times.
