The Girl From the Train

Exciting story that follows a girl and her rescuer throughout many adventures in Poland during the war.

This book follows the two main characters in their differing viewpoints throughout Poland during WWII.  Jakob who is fighting with the resistance saves a young child, Gretl, who is orphaned, when the train she was heading to Aushwitz in is bombed.  This story follows them over a 15 year period and shows what they both have to endure to survive.  Gretl's feelings change as she grows up and must learn how to understand and accept her new thoughts and ideas.  They come from such different backgrounds but grow together, as time carries on, rather than apart.
