Growing up the only child of a single mother in the San Francisco Bay area in the 1970s and '80s, Brian was a gangly awkward kid who found himself the frequent target of bullies. He took refuge in comic books (and reading in general), science fiction, horror movies, television, and later on, hard rock and heavy metal music. He was a nerd before it became trendy. In loving detail, Posehn delves into many of his youthful obsessions that helped form the adult he became.

With unflinchingly self-deprecating (but frequently laugh-out-loud) honesty, Posehn takes us on a journey from his troubled childhood to success as a comedian and happiness as a husband and father--all the while staying true to his inherent nerdiness.
