Kate Warne: Pinkerton Detective

Here’s another wonderful book by Marissa Moss about a convention-shattering woman from America’s past.  At a time when women couldn’t vote or serve on juries, Kate Warne convinced master detective Alan Pinkerton to give her a job, and it wasn’t long before this tough and resourceful woman was proving her worth on a variety of high profile cases.  This book highlights one of those cases, in which Kate’s skills help bring down an embezzlement ring.

 

Pair this book with Kate Hannigan’s The Detective’s Assistant, a historical novel about Kate Warne’s exploits as narrated by her equally plucky (though, sadly, fictional) niece.
