For anyone else who winces when they remember early-2000s white radical feminism

It's sort of a niche audience, but if you were a young college-age feminist and/or lesbian in the early 2000s, I'm going to have to insist that you read this book. Or, if you were one of those people who was too brown, too gender-non-conforming, or too femme, to fit in with the Lilith Fair crowd, I'll have to insist twice.

Juliet is a Puerto Rican lesbian from the Bronx. She's just come out to her family, might be getting dumped by her girlfriend, and decides to run off to Portland, Oregon. There, she tries to embrace the super white, super crunchy feminist scene, begins an internship with a thinly-veiled Inga Muscio, learns about intersectionality the hard way, parties a lot, and meets a bunch of cute girls. That's it, that's the book. It's terrific.
