Like O Brother Where Art Thou before it, this soundtrack is as solid as the movie built around it

The Coen brothers established their love of Americana with their phenomenal O Brother Where Art Thou in 2000. That soundtrack was an instant classic, featuring contemporary artists performing traditional blues, gospel and country tunes. The same producer, T. Bone Burnett, has pulled together another amazing soundtrack for the Coens’ new film, Inside Llewyn Davis. The movie (which is every bit as good as its soundtrack), about a struggling singer-songwriter in New York’s 60s folk revival scene, relies on musical performances from its lead actors, Oscar Isaac (who is an enormous pleasure to watch and listen to), Carey Mulligan, and Justin Timberlake. On the soundtrack, they’re joined by Americana luminaries Marcus Mumford and Punch Brothers, performing traditional songs like the terrific "The Auld Triangle", "Fare Thee Well", and "Hang Me, Oh Hang Me".
