Making the Most of Summer

New-chairs-at-AU1-248x300.jpgNow that August is here (and back-to-school time is fast approaching!), I wanted to offer a few tips to help you make the most of the last few weeks of summer.

  • Come in to Capital Area District Libraries’ Aurelius branch and relax in one of our new comfortable chairs. These were purchased with donations made in memory of former head librarian Eileen Droscha, in combination with CADL grant funds.
  • Pick up your Summer Reading prizes! The last day to claim them is Saturday, Aug. 18.
  • Our summer activities continue throughout August. You can even get bonus reading points for attending one. We’ll have musical instrument-making with Impression 5 on Aug. 15, a Marshall Music Drum Circle/Summer Reading Party/Book Sale on Aug. 22, and Storytime on Aug. 29. We are also showing movies on Thursdays at 2 p.m., complete with free popcorn. Find details at cadl.org/events.
  • There’s plenty of time to get more reading in this summer. Don’t know what to pick? Try using our BookSleuth service. On Thursday, Aug. 30 from 1-6 p.m., you can tweet us or post to our Facebook page and get a personalized recommendation. Find details at cadl.org/booksleuth. Or come in to the library where staff can recommend titles for all ages and reading interests.

Capital Area District Libraries’ Aurelius branch is located at 1939 Aurelius Road in Mason. For more information, call 517-628-3743 or visit cadl.org.
