Community Conversations Helping to Gain Community Partners

Since debuting our Community Conversations last fall, the Leslie branch of Capital Area District Libraries has gained valuable community partners in ensuring that the conversations lead to a deeper understanding of local residents’ hopes and aspirations.

The City of Leslie and the Friends of the Leslie Library have both been instrumental in spreading the word. Participants have shared many ideas that we will discuss and possibly implement. One suggestion I’d like to share today is the wish that there were more ways to learn about events happening in the community.

The library is doing several things to help with this issue. One is that we invite all non-profit community groups to use our community display case to promote your groups and events. Library visitors love looking at the contents of the case!

Non-profit organizations are also welcome to share their information on the library community information board. Just like the display case, this board is easily accessible to library visitors.

Finally, community members can use the library as a meeting space. While we don’t have a private meeting room, we can offer a quiet place to meet in the early afternoons. The seating is comfortable, and the tables are wired for Wi-Fi.

We look forward to helping your organization get the word out!
