Come Create with Us!

Create an Experience

When I was a kid I loved art class at school, but we only got it twice a week. My mom would come up with all kinds of fun projects to do at home. Even though I wasn’t what most people would consider to be a great artist, the experience of creating was one of the best parts of my childhood.

Here at Capital Area District Libraries, we want to help you and your kids create experiences to remember. At CADL South Lansing, we offer weekly free drop-in art sessions! Our team of librarians and library assistants take turns leading a new project each Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. in the children’s section of the library. Kids of any age can come, and family members are welcome to help, or create their own projects, too!

Art is Great for Development

Projects vary by week and are great in helping develop excellent fine motor skills for your kids: Activities like cutting, gluing, painting and drawing all help. We’ve made everything from newspaper sharks to craft stick and bead dragonflies. Most projects can be completed within 15-30 minutes, but if time runs out, kids can always bring supplies home with them to finish. You don’t need a CADL card to participate in any of our libraries’ events, so feel free to drop in and get crafty!

Capital Area District Libraries’ South Lansing branch is located at 3500 S. Cedar Street. For more information, call 517-272-9840.
