Audrey Niffenegger Visits CADL
Get your tickets now for
this premiere event featuring internationally bestselling
author—and Michigan native—Audrey Niffenegger. In 2003, her first
novel,
The Time Traveler’s Wife, debuted at number nine on the New York
Times bestseller list, then went on to become the Amazon.com Book
of the Year. The Library Journal described the unique story of time
traveler Henry and his true love Claire as "skillfully written, with a
blend of distinct characters and heartfelt emotions." It was made into
a feature film starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in 2009, and has
recently been released on DVD.
Also in 2009, Niffenegger released her second novel,
Her Fearful Symmetry. The New York Times book review called it
“mature, complex and convincing—a dreamy yet visceral tale of loves
both familial and erotic, a search for Self in the midst of obsession
with an Other.” A gifted artist as well as a writer, Niffenegger
teaches at Chicago’s Columbia College. Current projects include a
graphic novel to be published in 2010 and a third novel called The
Chinchilla Girl in Exile (in progress). Read much more about
Niffenegger and her work at audreyniffenegger.com.
Books will be available for sale and signing at the event. Although
tickets are FREE, they are required to attend. Get yours today at any

Brad Herzog visits CADL
As part of our annual
Spring Author Series, we’re pleased to welcome Brad Herzog, author of
more than two dozen books for children and four for adults.
Herzog says that Bilbo Baggins probably made him a writer, and
credits an English teacher with boosting his confidence and setting him
on the right path. He felt a particular calling to sports writing, and
after graduating from Cornell University, covered everything from
football to field hockey for The Ithaca Journal. Herzog then began a
freelance career that has varied from newspaper and magazine writing to
children’s books and travel narratives. He has won several awards from
the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, including a
Grand Gold Medal for best magazine article of the year.
In a presentation geared toward parents, teachers and kids ages 12 and
up, Herzog will share his belief that enthusiasm for sports can
encourage kids to be lifelong readers and writers. His presentation,
“Hemingway was a Sportswriter,” examines the world of sports as it
relates to literature, society and the classroom.
No ticket is required to attend this event. Read more about Brad Herzog
at his website http://www.bradherzog.com/

his titles in our catalog.
