The Apple app requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch running iOS version 7 or higher.
The Android app requires a phone or tablet running Android version 4 or higher.
The Android app is also available in the Amazon appstore and will work on 2nd generation Kindle Fire tablets and newer. Blackberry devices running BlackBerry OS 10.3 or higher are also be able to install it from the Amazon app store.
You will need 25 - 30 MB of storage to install and run these apps.
We've packed a lot into our app, but some things are still just on the web site.
CADL's website is also "responsive", meaning it adapts to all different screen sizes. We are continually working on making our online services work well for you whatever device you may be using.
We started with Apple iOS and Android because they are by far the most prevalent mobile platforms, but we are listening for Windows requests and watching the development of the Windows mobile platform. We have also recently made our website and catalog mobile-friendly, which will help everyone have a happier CADL online experience.
Currently, a MelCat search is offered when there are no matches to a search. We have on our list of enhancements to offer a MelCat search even when there are search results, since even a full title search can result in matches with partial matches.
There are some situations when no holds are allowed. For example, when no copies of a title are allowed to be checked out and must be used inside the library.
However, there is currently a bug in the app such that when you find an item using the Scan ISBN feature, there is no hold button. This will be fixed in a future update.
Not all holds are eligible to be frozen. For example, a hold that is already in transit or on the holdshelf cannot be frozen. Nor can holds on titles that have available copies be frozen. Nor holds that have been in place for 255 days or more.
However, there is a bug in the iOS version of the app that sometimes causes freeze/unfreeze and cancel buttons to be suppressed. This will be fixed in a future update. In the meantime, effected holds can be managed in the web site account screens--touch "View in Browser" at the top of your account information screen to be signed in to your account automatically.
When you link your account information in the app, it stores your card number and password for you. You do not need to log in and log out. You may manually remove your account information by using the 'remove' button on the Link My Account screen if you do not wish to store your account information in the app.
We recommend that you use a screenlock passcode on your device.
Not at this time. That is a feature we hope to add in the future to help caregivers manage other's accounts.
This occured in the original Android version of the app and is fixed in version 1.1. Please update the app if you are experiencing this problem.
If your device has an auto-focus camera, you can scan barcodes on books you find at a store or on your friends' bookshelf to see if CADL has a copy! Super handy!
Some things to know:
This screen will be blank if your account information is inaccessible. There can be various reasons for that, but the most common one is that your library card has expired. We are working on a better way to alert you when that is the case. You can verify your expiration date by choosing Digital Library Card.
The original Android version of the app had a bug such that it places all holds using the default pickup location that is stored in your account, regardless of what you choose as you are placing the hold. This is fixed in version 1.1. Please update the app if you are experiencing this problem.
In the meantime, you can
