To use hoopla, you need an active Capital Area District Libraries card with fines under $10. If you do not have a card, you can sign up for a temporary library card or visit your local CADL branch and bring a current photo ID with proof of address to get your full service library card.

Hoopla allows you to checkout 12 items at a month. This limit resets the last day of each month.
Movies and TV episodes checkout for 72 hours, Music albums checkout for 7 days. Books, audiobooks, and comic books checkout for 21 days.
You do not have to place a hold on an item from hoopla. Hoopla allows for simultaneous use, so every item is always available to you.
You do not need to return a hoopla item. After the lending period has ended the item automatically is returned. Returning an item does not effect your number of checkouts for the month.
Capital Area District Libraries has placed daily and monthly spending caps on the hoopla service to moderate the spending of hoopla funds. Once the daily limit has been reached all patrons are are unable to check anything else out until the daily cap resets at 8:00 pm. This does not mean that you've lost your checkouts for the month. Please try to checkout the title again after 8:00 pm.
You can stream or download items from hoopla to your smartphone or tablet. If you are using your cellular connection to use hoopla it is important to download the content in order to save on data costs. You can download an item by selecting Download on an Android device or the cloud icon on an Apple device.
Hoopla only allows you to stream items to your computer.
TV shows are downloaded by episode rather than by season. You can download an entire season but it would have to be done one episode at a time. You may go through your alotted downloads for a month if you are trying to go through a TV season.
Music albums are downloaded by the album rather than by the song. You download an entire album at a time.
You can use hoopla on the library computers to stream items.
When you are using hoopla on a computer, there is an option to Report an Error when you are using the item. When you are using the hoopla app, choose Contact Us under hoopla's menu.
